The manufacturing process requires efficient cleaning equipment to remove spilled iron and aluminum metal from the furnace’s walls and floor. To cope with the flow of metal, it is essential to monitor the temperature of melted metals like zinc and aluminum.
In this content we would like to introduce our main product, Calorized (CA) Lance pipe and discuss the quality benefits and applications of CA lance pipe.
Calorized Lance Pipe and its Applications

Introduction
Our Calorized Lance pipes (CA Lance) are used widely around the world. We distribute our quality steel pipes to more than 52 countries worldwide.

Calorizing is the process of diffusing aluminum into the surface of the steel pipes which is heated up to 1,000℃ and forms a heat-resistant aluminum-iron alloy (calorized layer) over the surface of the steel pipe.
Our CA Lance has a calorized layer and ceramic coating both inside and outside of the pipe. CA Lances last 3 to 10 times longer than mild steel lances and are not only used for the refining and smelting of steel by blowing oxygen gas, but also used for the injection of lime, carbon, and/or other additives.
We have performed an internal test to demonstrate to our customers the quality of the CA Lance pipes showing proof resistance to temperatures as high as 3000oC. The regular mild steel pipes can only survive a powerful flame for 20 seconds before developing a hole whereas our CA Lance can hold a hole for 151 seconds longer.
Application of CA Lance Pipe
Generally, the lance pipes are put into the melted iron to blow carbon and oxygen into it. Regular mild steel pipes in comparison to our CA lance pipes, will melt rapidly when placed into molten iron, requiring employees to use a new pipe which involves making all arrangements of connecting a new lance with the lance holders which are commonly and dangerously performed right in front of the furnace door.

Calorized Lance pipe also has a specific application for the protection tube of thermocouples. The thermocouple is used to gauge the temperature of melted zinc metal, aluminum, copper. To measure the temperature, the thermocouple is inserted into the CA Lance Tube and then dipped in molten metal.
In aluminum smelters, it is a challenge to find tools that are good enough to prevent oxidation. It develops corrosion and reduces the life of steel tubes by blowing inert gas into the melting furnace thus reducing their long-lasting life. This can also be solved by using our CA Lances.
We have a specific design of CA Lance Pipe for holding the Thermocouple inside the pipe (with one end welded and closed).
Its dimension is OD 27.2 x 3.9mm x 2.0-meter length (dimensions can be customized in accordance with the customer’s need)
