Calorized Lance Pipe or the CA Lance Pipe is the chief product of Daiwa. This specialized pipe is used in the steel making process mainly at the Electric Arc Furnace for injecting Oxygen and Carbon through the pipe.
The calorized layer on the pipe is prepared through a specific process where the aluminum is diffused into the surface of the steel pipe at the heat of 1000°C thus forming the heat resistant aluminum-iron alloy (Calorized Layer) over the surface of the pipe. This whole process makes the CA Lance Pipe unique in this characteristic.

Why is CA Lance Pipe strong against Heat?
Well, here is the answer…
When the Calorized Lance Pipe is exposed to high temperature, the aluminum oxide layer(calorized layer) over the surface of the pipe forms a heat resistant coating which protects the steel against severe oxidation.
This image below compares the test result of Calorized Pipe and Carbon Steel Pipe when exposed at 1000°C for 15 hours:
Carbon Steel Pipe: Oxidized and scale weight increased by 20%
Calorized Pipe: Almost no oxidation and weight increased by 0.8%
Oxidation: Fe + O2 → Fe2O3
The weight of O2 increases and Fe2O3 is porous hence it peels off easily.
To make the CA Lance Pipe more durable against high heat and high oxidation, a layer of ceramic coating is made inside and outside of the pipe along with the Calorized layer.
