Introduction: 2-1/2″ O.D. Lance Pipes for Larger Incinerators and EAFs

Lances are oxygen lance pipes manufactured with various ranges of OD. There is also a range of bigger oxygen lance pipes with larger 2-1/2″ O.D. Especially, the demand has arisen from Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) and Trash Burning Furnaces as they are seeking for good-performance oxygen lance pipes at affordable prices. Presently, the 2-1/2″ O.D. lance pipe is not used generally and has not been manufactured. In the meantime, there is currently a demand for 2-1/2″ OD oxygen lance pipes from newly constructed clean centres, but there are few manufacturers that can supply such products. The trend for larger size electric furnaces is creating a need for larger diameter lance pipes to allow sufficient oxygen to be blown into the furnace during the diminished heating operation time.

Today, we would like to introduce our flexibility to manufacture oxygen lance pipe designs and sizes according to the need of the customer, which helps in a better way to inject oxygen used for Electric Furnace and Trash burning furnaces (Incinerators).

Role of SC Lance in copper and ferroalloy smelters

As we know, open tapping is a risky activity that may result in accidents in the lower parts of the copper smelter and ferrometal smelting, it is important to use safety or security materials. Open tapping in copper refining is generally performed using SC Lances (black pipes) but the issue is that if low-quality black pipes is used, there can be a possibility of oil on the surface of the steel pipe, which may easily catch fire. Hence, SC Lances is utilized for opening tap, which is somewhat less expensive but runs the possibility of oxygen leaking from welds, in order to decrease expenses in the ferrometal refining process.
In this content, we are going to discuss about the high-quality SC lance pipe, which helps to prevent hazards and also improves efficiency in the copper smelter and ferroalloy smelter.

Planning to Decarbonize Global Steel Industry

Steel being one of the core elements of society is utilized in our daily life in many areas as the most necessary construction element. Also, steel sector is recognized as one of the three largest carbon dioxide producers at this moment. To diminish their carbon footstep from both an environmental and an economic perception, steel players around the world are increasingly faced with a decarbonization problem. Significant steps must be taken within the next 10-20 years to attain net-zero carbon emissions if we expect to keep global warming to 1.5 to 2 degrees.
The iron and steel industry are currently the largest industrial sector in terms of energy consumption. The creation and deployment of cutting-edge, energy-efficient technology are therefore crucial to manufacture steel. Investment from BF to EAF would take time, therefore, there are numerous ways to support this process of global decarbonization contribution.
Today, we shall be discussing about the various methods and ways to decarbonize the steel industry.

Decarbonized and Economical Solution for Steel Production

As the steel production utilizes a lot of fossil fuels, there are also some decarbonization alternatives on the horizon. Almost 6-7% of the greenhouse gas emissions are accounted for the steel industries for emitting CO2. This is the reason, nowadays, the global power system has reached to that level where decarbonization has been achieved in Steelmaking.
Also because of the increasing proportion of steel scraps and carbon dioxide emissions, several countries are switching to EAF for steel manufacturing.
Amongst the many consumable products in steel production, steel pipe is one of them. Mostly, steel mills in their smelting and refining process uses Mild Steel Pipes to manufacture steel. Nevertheless, due to the raise of EAF, alternatives are also put into consideration for better functioning and cleaner world.
Today, we shall discuss more about it in this article.

SC Lances in the Steel Manufacturing

Daiwa’s SC Lance is a mild steel pipe welded with carbon with no coating and is mainly used for oxygen lancing. This lance generates high temperature of over 3000 ℃ when burning. Rigorous Quality Control is processed to make sure there is no oil or grease present on the surface of the lances so as to provide safety to users.
“SC” means “Self- Consuming”. The other names for this lance are MS lance Pipe, Mild Steel Lance Pipe, Lancing Pipe or Oxygen Lance Pipe.
These lances are mainly used in cleaning the tapping hole of Blast Furnace or slag door of Electric Arc Furnace and also in the removal of stuck slag on converter.
Today, we are going to discuss about the SC Lances and its uses in the Steel Manufacturing.

Use of Daiwa’s SC Lance/ Thermic Lance in the Scrapyard

Daiwa Anaya Steel Private Limited being a leader in the supply of highest quality lancing technologies and solutions, has a vast experience to service its esteemed customers with the finest steel tubing technologies, industry expertise and supply chain execution. Among all the lancing solutions that we already know, today we are going to discuss about the two Lances namely SC Lances and Thermic Lances and their uses in the scrapyard.

Use of SC Lance at Electric Arc Furnace (EAF)

SC Lance at Electric Arc Furnace (EAF)

SC Lance is a mild steel pipe manufactured by Daiwa with no oil or grease on the surface of the pipe. The SC Lance is mostly used to open tap hole of the furnace to start the flow of molten metals by supplying oxygen at high temperatures. This pipe generates heat of more than 3000°C and is manufactured through the ERW process using best quality coils from Nippon Steel, Japan.
