In this piece of information, we shall discuss about our different lances and their comparison with one another. It is evident that the end users of lance pipes have other options for using the steel pipes to improve the proficiency considering the applications for the lance pipes.

This is why, today, we shall be discussing about the three types of lancing pipes that are used in the refining and steel melting industries namely, Mild Steel Pipes, Ceramic Coated Lance Pipes and Calorized Lance Pipes and how they are different from each other.

Mild Steel Pipe:

The steel pipes which are made up of less carbon content i.e., less than 0.25% are known as the Mild Steel Pipes. Due to their low carbon content the pipes are easy to use and are not too hard. These pipes are easily molded and welded into various sizes and forms as they used in tubing and pipelining applications which are constructed of the mild steel pipes.

These pipes are mainly used for engineering and industrial applications and also for the lancing purposes in the steel manufacturing areas.

Ceramic Lance Pipe:

This is a different type of lance pipe in which a special refractory ceramic coating is applied both inside and outside of the mild steel pipe depending on the nominal bore of the pipe. This ceramic coating on the mild steel pipe improves the resistance of the pipe against the attack from slag or liquid metal. These Ceramic Coated Pipes are used in the Electric Arc Furnaces for blowing oxygen or other gases. The layers of ceramic coating on the pipe can also be customized as the requirement of the customer. Although the Ceramic Coated Pipes are easier to burn during usage.

The Calorized Lance Pipes are made up of the calorizing process technology on the surface of the pipe. Here, both the calorized layer and the ceramic coated refractory layer on both inside and outside of the pipe helps in withstanding much longer time than the Mild Steel Pipe. The CA lance pipes are used in the steel making process through injection of oxygen or carbon. The refractory coating and the calorized layer together generate high heat resistance and anti-oxidation which helps to cut down the consumption of the pipe and also the cost.

The chart below will help us to understand the comparison among the three lance pipes precisely:

Note: Depending on the usage conditions, the performance results may vary.

Conclusion:

The choice of the lances depends on the requirements of the customers. We hope that our information regarding the three types of lances and their usages will benefit our customers to understand our products and help them to choose the lances accordingly.
