Daiwa’s SC Lance is a mild steel pipe welded with carbon with no coating and is mainly used for oxygen lancing. This lance generates high temperature of over 3000 ℃ when burning. Rigorous Quality Control is processed to make sure there is no oil or grease present on the surface of the lances so as to provide safety to users.

“SC” means “Self- Consuming”. The other names for this lance are MS lance Pipe, Mild Steel Lance Pipe, Lancing Pipe or Oxygen Lance Pipe.

These lances are mainly used in cleaning the tapping hole of Blast Furnace or slag door of Electric Arc Furnace and also in the removal of stuck slag on converter.

Today, we are going to discuss about the SC Lances and its uses in the Steel Manufacturing.

SC Lances in the Steel Manufacturing

Size of Daiwa SC Lance:

Daiwa’s SC lances has a huge variety of sizes from OD 6.0mm to OD 27.0mm depending on the requirements of the users and their purpose of uses.

Type of Daiwa SC Lance

There are different types of the SC Lance Pipes as below:

  • Threaded Ends (Type – T2): Here, both the ends are threaded and fitted with a plastic cap on each end. Connection between the two Pipes is done by joining a screw socket.
  • Plain Ends (Type – PE): Here, the ends of both the pipes are plain and chamfered.

The users can either use quick coupling to connect both the pipes together or welding both the pipes can also be an option. Again, the users can also use one pipe at a time. This depends on the preference of the users.

Swaged Ends (Type – SE): Here, the diameter of both the pipes are reduced by pressing the end of the pipe so that they can be connected easily by a simple coupling.

Pressed Coupling End (Type T6): Here, one end of the pipe is plain while the other end is fitted with a pressed coupling. This is where the clamping machine is required to connect both the pipes through coupling.

The press machine can also be supplied along with SC Lances for the crimping purposes.

The finished products are always checked of its quality before getting out of the manufacturing unit. The steel pipes always have clean surface with neither oil or grease on the surface of the pipe thus obsoleting the danger factor for the operator. Thorough check is done in the quality controlling part to prevent any sort of oxygen leakage. Also, the Daiwa’s products take less time to connect the pipes thus reducing the working time in front of furnace.
